The fallacy of self-driving cars

MIT point out three dilemmas for self driving cars which will delay their arrival

1. Safety: manufactures must invest heavily into tech to identify perceived dangers THEN avoid them. Human drivers (non-texting non-drunk Drivers) on average collide every 10 million hours of driving. Self driving cars collide once per 10,000 hours… there’s a loooooong way to go

2. Usefulness:  driverless cars must drive at the same speed as human divers while making reasonable decisions on road conditions route directions and when to change lanes.… Read more
