I’m interested when reality and perception split. It appears to have divided in the auto industry.
Here’s some information about TESLA and the other car manufacturers in the world. Investors demand for Tesla shares has made it the most valuable car manufacturer in the world.
Here’s Teslas stock performance
Tesla sells very few cars
and the industry is not faring well after COVID
Not only that
Tesla earned the worst score among the 32 major vehicle brands in J.D. Power’s 2020 Initial Quality Study due to various problems reported by owners and its the first time the company has rated Tesla.
Tesla’s cars and SUVs had 250 problems per 100 vehicles, compared with an industry average of 166. In Tesla’s case problems included paint defects, poor fit of body panels, trunks and hoods that were hard to open and close, too much wind noise in the interior, squeaks and rattles, according to J.D. Power’s automotive President Doug Betts. The issues were “primarily a result of factory quality’.
So crappy car made in a poor factory… but its a great investment. Perception and reality deviate yet again.
