Not a “V” shaped recovery

Two enduring metaphors of Covid were “flatten the curve” – reduce the incidence of Covid-19 infections to enable an overstretches health care system to cope.

The second was the image of a “V” shaped recovery… much hyped by Politicians facing I’m and the re-election… this thing will go away as fast as it came… we’ll bounce back.

Many pundits bet their reputations on this imagery.

Latest research paints a not so positive picture… the recovery has stalled.

Continued Covid infections and the various national restrictions attempting to counteract infection and an almost global ban on international travel have contributed greatly to a stalled recovery despite trillions being injected in economies. Economic uncertainty from Covid and impending US elections plus UK finally departing the EU have contributed to this malaise.

An interesting situation worthy of speculation.
